Hexagon nylon insert nuts, most commonly known as nyloc nuts, are a type of prevailing torque lock nut for securely fastening machine threaded screws or bolts. Nyloc nuts contain a non-metallic insert which grips the thread of the fastener when tightened and helps to prevent the nut from vibrating lose. Nyloc nuts are extremely popular and can be used in a wide range of applications but are not suitable for high-temperature applications as the non-metallic insert can deform and the locking function can fail.
