Practical benefits
These screws are designed to speed up installation while maintaining a reliable hold. The cutting point improves penetration and reduces the chance of timber splitting. Milling ribs reduce torque, making driving easier and helping the screw pull materials together effectively. Ribs beneath the head support smooth countersinking for a neat surface finish.
Choice of stainless grade allows the fixing to match the environment, with A4 providing increased protection in coastal and high-moisture conditions.
What are raised countersunk timber screws?
They are wood screws with a countersunk head that has a shallow domed profile which is more aesthetic and gives a more premium finish that flat countersunk.
Do these screws need pre-drilling?
In many softwoods and some hardwoods, pre-drilling is not required. For dense hardwoods, pilot holes are still recommended.
What drive type do these screws use?
They use a Torx (TX) drive, which gives better bit engagement and reduces cam-out during installation.
Which stainless grade should I choose?
A2 stainless steel suits most general outdoor applications. A4 should be used in coastal areas or where exposure to moisture and corrosive conditions is higher. A4 is also recommended for high-tannin hard woods such as oak and iroko.
Are these suitable for hardwood?
Yes, the cutting point and milling ribs improve performance in hardwood, though pre-drilling may be needed in very dense timber.
