A2 Stainless Steel Self-Drilling Torx Wood Screws

Self-drilling stainless steel wood screws designed for timber-to-timber fixing without the need for pilot holes in most applications. Suitable for exterior use where corrosion resistance and fast installation are important. These screws are also suitable for cement board to timber substrate applications.

Key features

• A2 stainless steel for corrosion resistance in outdoor timber
• Self-drilling point reduces or removes the need for pre-drilling
• Torx TX20 drive for secure bit engagement and reduced cam-out
• Countersinking ribs under the head for a flush finish
• Suitable for use with many tannin-rich timbers

Typical applications

• Timber framing and general joinery
• Decking, fencing and garden structures
• Cladding and exterior timber boarding
• Steps, balustrades, and outdoor joinery
• Cement boards onto timber substrates
• Landscaping and site timber work

Practical benefits

These screws speed up installation by cutting their own path into timber, reducing time spent pre-drilling. The TX20 Torx drive provides solid engagement, allowing higher torque transfer with less risk of slipping or damaging the head. Countersinking ribs help the head seat cleanly into the timber for a neat, flush finish.

Manufactured from A2 stainless steel, they provide dependable resistance to corrosion in most external environments.

What does self-drilling mean in wood screws?
Self-drilling wood screws have a specially formed point that helps them cut into timber without a separate pilot hole in many situations.

Do I still need to pre-drill?
In most softwoods pre-drilling is not required. In dense hardwoods, a pilot hole may still be recommended.

What drive type is TX20?
TX20 refers to a Torx drive size. It offers better grip between bit and screw, reducing cam-out and improving driving control.

Are A2 stainless screws suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, A2 stainless steel is suitable for most external timber applications. For coastal or highly corrosive environments, A4 stainless steel is typically preferred.

Can I use these screws on cement board?
Yes, these screws are an excellent choice for cement board as the self-drilling point will drill through the boards without pre-drilling, and the A2 stainless material offers excellent corrosion resistance.
