The HECO-TOPIX A2 Stainless Steel Flange Head Screw 6 × 120mm is a partially threaded structural timber screw designed for strong wood-to-wood connections. Its wide 14mm flange head provides a larger bearing surface than a standard countersunk head, helping to distribute the clamping load across the timber without requiring a separate washer.
Manufactured from A2 stainless steel, this screw is suitable for external timber construction and landscaping applications, including oak sleepers. The HECO-TOPIX point supports quick starting with reduced splitting, while the TX25 recess provides secure power transmission during installation.
This HECO-TOPIX timber construction screw combines a wide flange head with a partially threaded shank. As the threaded section enters the supporting timber, the unthreaded section allows the upper component to be pulled firmly against the substrate.
Key features:
The stainless-steel construction and broad flange head make this screw suitable for timber connections where corrosion resistance and a high clamping force are required. It can be used with suitable softwood and hardwood substrates, subject to the installation requirements of ETA-11/0284.

Technical note: Hardwood applications, including oak, require correctly sized pilot holes in accordance with ETA-11/0284. A2 stainless steel is suitable for many external applications but should not automatically be specified for coastal, swimming-pool or other highly corrosive environments.

Installation: Install using a correctly fitting TX25 driver bit and drive the flange head firmly against the timber without crushing the surface or overdriving the screw. Pre-drilling may not be required in suitable softwood when the fixing position complies with the approval, but correctly sized pilot holes are required when installing stainless-steel screws into hardwood such as oak. Screw diameter, length, spacing, edge distances and embedment must follow ETA-11/0284 and the project-specific design.
