The HECO-TOPIX-plus Part Thread Countersunk Screw 8 × 80mm is a structural timber screw manufactured from hardened carbon steel with a bright zinc-plated A3K finish. Its partial-thread design pulls timber components firmly together, while the countersunk head finishes flush with the timber surface.
Designed for professional timber construction, this screw is suitable for timber-to-timber connections, internal joinery, staircase construction and general carpentry. The zinc-plated finish is intended primarily for dry internal or protected applications; select a suitable stainless steel or corrosion-resistant fixing where greater environmental exposure is expected.
HECO-TOPIX-plus part thread countersunk screws are designed to produce secure timber-to-timber connections. The unthreaded section allows the upper component to be drawn tightly against the supporting timber as the screw is driven.
Key features:
These structural wood screws are intended for timber-to-timber connections where a strong clamping action and flush countersunk finish are required.
Typical applications include:
Technical note: The required screw diameter, length, quantity, spacing, edge distance and embedment must be established from the manufacturer’s guidance and the project-specific structural design. Pre-drilling may be required in hardwood, dense timber or where reduced edge distances are used.
Technical note: Always use the latest manufacturer documentation and project-specific design when determining the required fixing specification.
What drive bit does the HECO-TOPIX-plus 6 x 300mm screw use?
The screw uses a T30 Torx drive. A suitable T30 Torx bit should be used for secure engagement and efficient torque transfer.
What is the HECO-TOPIX-plus 6 x 300mm screw used for?
It is designed for structural timber construction and professional woodworking applications, including timber-to-timber connections, timber framing and general wood construction.
Does the HECO-TOPIX-plus tip require pre-drilling?
The HECO-TOPIX tip is designed to reduce the need for pre-drilling and minimise the risk of timber splitting. Whether pre-drilling is required depends on the timber species, screw position and application.
What is the benefit of the flange head?
The enlarged flange head provides a greater clamping surface than a conventional screw head, helping to improve load transmission and provide a secure timber connection.
What is the HECO-TOPIX-plus MagicClose feature?
MagicClose is a patented full-thread system designed to pull timber fixtures together without gaps and without pre-stressing in applicable screw diameters. It is particularly useful for creating tight timber-to-timber connections.
What does PerfectPitch mean?
PerfectPitch refers to the optimised thread pitch used for different screw lengths. It is designed to support efficient installation and reliable performance across the HECO-TOPIX-plus range.
