The Nord-Lock wedge locking washer is the original wedge locking washer, developed to secure bolted joints, even when exposed to severe vibration and dynamic loads. Nord-Lock washers utilise tension in the bolt joint rather than friction, be ensuring the angle of the taper between the washer pairs is greater than the pitch of the thread. This essentially means that you will need greater torque to remove than used to fasten, making it highly unlikely for bolted joints to loosed unintentionally when a Nord-Lock washer has been used.
