The Schmid RAPID® Top-2-Roof insulation screw is designed for fixing counter battens through warm roof and over-rafter insulation into the supporting timber structure. Its extended length passes through the insulation layer, while the two threaded sections secure the counter batten and anchor the fixing into the timber below.
Suitable for pitched roof insulation systems using rigid, semi-rigid or non-pressure-resistant insulation. The screw can also be used for suitable external wall insulation and timber façade build-ups, subject to the specified fixing arrangement and structural design.
The RAPID® Top-2-Roof is a long structural timber screw developed for fixing counter battens over on-roof insulation. The lower thread anchors into the rafter or supporting timber, while the second threaded section beneath the head holds the counter batten securely in position.
The unthreaded shaft between the two thread sections spans the insulation build-up. This configuration is designed to transfer compression and shear forces without relying on the insulation layer alone to support the counter batten.

Technical note: Screw length, fixing angle, spacing, embedment and quantity must be determined from the complete roof or wall build-up and the relevant structural design. The insulation thickness alone is not sufficient for selecting the fixing length.

Installation: Drive with the correct T40 bit and install to the angle, spacing and embedment specified by the roof or wall design. The lower thread must achieve the required embedment in the supporting timber, while the upper thread secures the counter batten. Pre-drilling is not normally required within the approved conditions, but may be specified for particular timber, edge distances or installation details.
